Fantasy Trees Concept sheets

Personal project painted in Procreate on the iPad. I love concepting and gave myself the challenge of coming up with different types of trees. It's hard not to come up with a story for them as I paint, so I named a few of them!

After choosing which tree I wanted to fully color I decided to play around and paint an effect. I imagined if the tree had gems growing from it should be magical, and painted the pink swirls as emanating magic.

Out of these three trees, I decided the slime tree was the more interesting design to take to color.

All six sketches of the trees before shading and color was added.

I was having fun trying a softer rendering style with this tree.
